How to get more Google reviews
Most happy customers never leave a review because nobody asks them or they don't know where to do it. Here are seven ways that work to get more Google reviews without breaking Google's rules.
1. Complete your Business Profile
Before you ask for reviews, make sure your Google profile is verified and complete: name, category, hours, phone, website and recent photos. A customer who stops by to leave feedback and sees a well-kept profile trusts you more and writes faster.
Also check that your primary category describes what you do. It's the first thing Google uses to decide which searches you show up in.
2. Get your review link
Google gives you a link that opens the review window directly. It's the most useful tool in this guide, because it removes every step in between.
- Search for your business name on Google while signed in to the account that manages the profile.
- In your Business Profile panel, click Ask for reviews.
- Copy the link that appears. That's the one you'll share everywhere.
Tip: save the link in your phone's notes or in your WhatsApp Business quick replies. If it's handy, you'll ask a lot more often.
3. Ask at the right moment
The best moment is right after a good experience, while the customer still remembers it. Depending on your business, that could be at checkout, when you deliver an order, at the end of an appointment or the day after a service.
Ask in person and keep it natural: "If you enjoyed it, it would really help us if you shared it on Google." A direct request works much better than a generic sign.
4. Put a QR code where people see it
Turn your link into a QR code and place it on the counter, on tables, on the receipt or on the invoice. The customer scans it with their phone and goes straight to the review.
You can download a basic QR code from your Business Profile. If you want more, the Revioos Google review QR code generator adds a quick survey first: 4 and 5-star customers go to Google in one tap and complaints reach you first so you can fix them.
5. Ready-to-send text and email messages
If you have the customer's contact details, a short, personal message is one of the things that works best. Use their name, mention what they bought or what you did for them and add your link.
Hi Megan, thanks for coming in today. If you enjoyed it, would you leave us a Google review? It only takes a minute and it helps us a lot: [your link]
Hi Jason, we hope you're enjoying your order. Your feedback helps other customers decide and helps us improve. Would you tell us how it went on Google? You can do it here: [your link]. Thank you!
Send it the same day or the next. Just once, with no follow-ups: if they don't reply, that's fine.
Let the reviews come to you
Revioos creates your QR code and survey, sends happy customers to Google and alerts you to complaints before they get posted.

The people who serve your customers are the best ones to ask for a review. Explain to your team why reviews matter, give them the QR code or the link and celebrate together when a customer mentions someone in a review.
Many reviews mention the person who helped. Tracking how many good reviews each employee gets is a simple way to motivate the team and learn what works.
7. Respond to every review
When customers see that you reply to every review, they know you read what people write and they're more likely to leave one too. Replying also shows people who don't know you yet how you treat your customers.
If you're not sure what to say, this guide has examples of responses to Google reviews, both positive and negative.
What you should never do
Buy reviews. It breaks Google's rules, and Google removes them and can restrict your profile. In the US the FTC bans fake reviews, and in the EU they are a prohibited commercial practice.
- Offer something in return: discounts, gifts or giveaways for leaving a review go against Google's policies.
- Ask your family or your staff: Google treats it as a conflict of interest and can remove those reviews.
- Write them yourself from your business: lots of reviews from the same connection in a short time raise red flags.
- Keep pushing: one friendly request is enough. Pressure gets you exactly the reviews you don't want.
Frequently asked questions
How many reviews does my business need?
There's no magic number. Recent, steady reviews matter as much as the total. Getting a few reviews every week is worth more than a lot at once followed by months with none.
Can I ask for reviews by text or WhatsApp?
Yes. It's one of the ways that works best, as long as the message is personal, sent only once and doesn't offer anything in return.
Can I give something away for leaving a review?
No. Google prohibits incentives in exchange for reviews, and reviews obtained that way can be removed.
Where do I find my link for people to leave reviews?
In your Business Profile, under the Ask for reviews button. Copy the link that appears and share it or turn it into a QR code.
